Friends -
We have said it before, but it bears repeating: While we are hearing there are still other candidates who may get into the Michigan Senate race, Mike Rogers’ announcement two weeks ago makes it all but certain that this is going to be one of the most competitive Senate races in the country. And if the outcome of this one Senate race wasn't enough on its own, the path to keeping Democrats' Senate majority could likely depend on our race.
Think about the issues you care about most: well-paying jobs, abortion access, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, protecting Social Security and Medicare and more... It is no exaggeration to say the outcome of our race could impact the future of all these issues.
These are the issues where someone like Mike Rogers has voted for 20 years as a politician, so we know exactly what he will do if he wins.
Now, not only is this going to be one of the most competitive races in the country, but it will also be one of the most expensive. But it’s on this very point we have an advantage.
You see, whether it’s Mike Rogers or another Republican opponent, they will raise almost all of their money from corporate PACs and from super PACs spending millions on TV on their behalf. But most of our fundraising comes from people chipping in a few bucks at a time, and we have seen cycle after cycle that grassroots contributions can actually outraise big super PACs when everyone bands together.
Basically, when thousands and thousands of people are giving $10, $20, $100... the big money can't keep up. There's no way.
Most of the individual donations to our campaign come in response to emails like this. And while we know an inbox filled with fundraising messages can be a drag at times, we hope you'll view it as a way to play a role in making progress on the issues you care about.
