It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23.

On the Ground in Eagle Pass

On Friday, I was on the ground in Eagle Pass to hear from Border Patrol, local authorities, and medical personnel on the front lines of the migrant influx crisis at our border. Tomorrow, I'm returning to Eagle Pass with U.S. Representatives who serve with me on the House Homeland Security Committee.

Congressman Gonzales received a briefing from Border Patrol Agents in Eagle Pass.

Secure our Border

Texas does not have the resources on its own to keep up with the amount of migrants crossing into our communities. This month, over 232,000 migrants were encountered at the border. There needs to be consequences to these crossings send those who don't qualify for asylum back to their countries of origin ASAP.

Supporting Serious Solutions

I also spoke with CNN about the need for real solutions to our budget issues. Washington politicians continue to fail America, creating the threat of a government shutdown. Passing the blame is getting us nowhere.

Protecting Those That Protect Us

Dangerous high-speed migrant pursuits have become a normal occurrence throughout border communities. Last year, Border Patrol Agent Raul Gonzalez lost his life while pursuing an illegal migrant in a high-speed chase.

This week, I helped introduce the Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act with Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ). This bill increases penalties for anyone who fails to yield to Border Patrol Agents and other law enforcement by raising the maximum sentence to include up to life in prison.

Every month, I hold a telephone townhall — I take questions from people in every pocket of TX-23 and share updates on how I’m working for you in Congress.
