I want you to hear House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s excuse for Republicans’ lack of real action in the House: “It’s hard to pass anything in this place ... Anything we do is pretty tough.” Democrats have never let slim majorities in the House or the Senate get in the way of progress. We’ve turned critical legislation into law, from the American Rescue Plan, to the bipartisan infrastructure bill, to the Inflation Reduction Act. Republicans don’t care about getting anything done. McCarthy is busy either making excuses or doing the bidding of the most radical members of his caucus and accelerating the government toward a shutdown. We can’t afford to let Republicans continue clinging on to power. We need to keep the Senate and White House blue and take back the House, but we need resources to do it.
