"Freedom from indefinite imprisonment at the will of the
Executive" represents the "very core of liberty."
- Former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

Patriot,

Since 2012, you can be thrown into prison by the federal
government, and held there indefinitely, without trial.

That was when then-President Barack Obama inserted a provision
into the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) allowing for
indefinite detentions, even of American citizens, in the name of
the "War on Terror."

In 2011, Campaign for Liberty almost stopped passage of the
FY2012 NDAA over this issue. Our efforts brought unprecedented
attention to the threat of allowing the government to detain
American citizens without due process.

As a result of the outcry from Campaign for Liberty supporters
like you, Barack Obama publicly pledged never to use it. . .

But a "pledge" does not have the power of law - and Joe Biden
never made any such pledge!

And as everything else in his administration falls apart - from
the disastrous war in Ukraine to ever-escalating inflation
putting pain on every American family - you can bet the regime
will be ginning up "domestic terrorism" as an election-year ploy.

But right now, you and I can end indefinite detention of
Americans once and for all.

Thanks to your emails, postcards, and phone calls, you and I
scored two major victories in the most recent version of the
NDAA, in that neither the free speech-killing RESTRICT Act, nor
any digital ID scheme, was included in the versions passed in the
House and Senate.

But the Senate version did not include the prohibition against
indefinite detention of Americans without trial.

We can WIN, or LOSE, on all three of these issues now that the
bill is in "conference committee."

This is the special committee created when the House and Senate
pass different versions of a bill. Conferees from each house come
together to hash out the differences and create a new bill which
must then be passed by each house.

The conferees were just named this week, so votes in both houses
are coming soon.

Right now, the momentum is on our side.

For the first time, you and I were able to force passage on the
prohibition on indefinite detention in the House. This passed the
Senate in previous terms.

And it has support in both parties so. . .

We CAN win this if you continue to take action and DEMAND your
lawmakers support the repeal of indefinite detention in the NDAA!

But I'm concerned, Patriot, we could also LOSE if too few
patriots keep up the pressure. Historically, the worst things can
happen in conference committee - even adding new elements to the
bill that were in neither the original House- nor Senate-passed
versions.

It's not uncommon to see spending bills that spend more money
than either the House or the Senate voted to pass.

Congress thinks you and I aren't watching anymore after the
initial bill passed so they always try to slip in pet projects
and more spending.

We could even see the RESTRICT Act appear in the "conference"
version of the NDAA.

That's why it's crucial you click here and send an e-postcard to
your representative and senators DEMANDING they repeal the
indefinite detention of Americans without charges - and keep the
RESTRICT Act and any digital ID scheme OUT.

Remember, these are bipartisan issues with support from lawmakers
in both parties.

But we have to contact them and all of their colleagues to keep
the pressure on.

You, Patriot, can give people a trial.

You, Patriot, can give people a judge.

You, Patriot, can give people a jury.

You, Patriot, have the chance to end indefinite detention in the
United States of America . . . indefinitely.

That's what can happen if we force the conference committee to
include the House-passed amendment in the National Defense
Authorization Act.

Unless the unconstitutional provision is repealed, there is no
way to stop any U.S. President from indefinitely detaining their
most vocal opponents.

The government would have you believe there are Americans out
there who are too dangerous to release . . . but somehow, they
cannot be prosecuted.

In other words, they want to "indefinitely" detain people they
cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt have broken any law.

No one should be indefinitely detained without charge or trial
based on a president's belief that the person is "dangerous." No
president - and certainly no government bureaucrat - should ever
be given the power to order a person indefinitely detained
without charge or trial on the basis of perceived future danger.

Your e-postcard - combined with those of all the other supporters
of liberty out there - will help prove to politicians they better
defend our rights if they know what's good for them.

But I hope you won't stop there, Patriot. With your support,
Campaign for Liberty can do a lot more to flood Congress with
more postcards, emails, and phone calls.

We need to drop thousands upon thousands of petitions and
postcards in their offices.

And we need to make sure more patriots are aware of these
important issues.

Identifying and reaching out to bring in new members and
supporters isn't free. Neither is mobilizing and delivering your
petitions to the Capitol.

The more resources we have, the more we can do, so if possible,
after contacting your representative and senators, follow up by
making your most generous donation today, whether it be $250 or
$100 or $25, to help us win this battle for good!

Thanks for all you do for Liberty,

John McCardell
Executive Director
Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Thanks to your support, we've made it farther than we ever
have to restore a fundamental constitutional right of Americans.

Let's do everything we can to win more victories in the National
Defense Authorization Act.

Sign your e-postcard now and tell your representative and
senators to 1. Support a ban on indefinite detention of
Americans, 2. Reject the RESTRICT Act from being inserted into
the NDAA, and 3. Outright say "no" to any language to promote a
Digital ID.

And then, please consider chipping in a donation of $10, $25,
$50, or more to help us keep the pressure on Congress to restore
the Constitution!
