Hey, True Texans!

I'm back!  Big thanks to Fran for filling in while I was on vacation.

Alaska was beautiful, but it certainly reassured me that I belong in Texas.  After such a brutal summer, I had my doubts, but it's good to be where I'm meant to be!

Here's a question that I had to give some thought to this week.  I've always said that I work so hard to save Texas because I have a daughter who needs to inherit a free country. Well, Lizzy is growing up now.  She's 16, and in a few years she'll be on her own. Do I have the same passion to preserve freedom for my daughter now as I did when she was younger? Not really! Let me explain...

Yes, I want Lizzy to live in freedom, and yes, Lizzy is worth the effort, but as an adult, Lizzy has the same responsibility we all have to fight. And if she decides not to fight, why should I fight on her behalf? I could enjoy my old age, relax a bit, coast on the freedoms we have left, and let the next generation figure things out on their own. On the other hand, if Lizzy does choose to fight, you know she's got one heck of an ally on her side in me!

So I brought all this up to Lizzy, explaining to her that she has a choice to make. I mean, I've told her a million times, politics is not my "thing."  I hate it! But I do it for her and for her future. She always understood. This is the first time she really was face-to-face with the reality that, oh -- now it has to be her thing too, and she hates it more than I do! Her immediate response was, "I don't wanna run a club!"  Ha ha! She doesn't have to! We can't all be CEO of True Texas Project! But she does have to be involved more than merely voting.

What does that look like?  What does that look like to you?  What is the minimum acceptable activism a citizen needs to do to maintain a republic -- or to gain back ground we've already lost?  Lizzy has to answer this question, and you should be too

Keeping up with True Texas Project is a good start!  We have a slogan...

"Do something.  Start here."

Challengers To the Dirty Dozen

We continue our effort to identify and challenge the Dirty Dozen Texas House members as highlighted in the documentary:

F3wgR0GXMAA50tc.jpg

We're featuring a challenger to the Dirty Dozen every week.                       Please visit their websites, donate and/or volunteer if you can, and show them some love on social media!

  • Week One: David Lowe, who is challenging Stephanie Klick
  • Week Two: Dennis London, who is challenging Justin Holland
  • Week Three: Mike Olcott, who is challenging Glen Rogers
  • Week Four: Andy Hopper, who is challenging Lynn Stucky

And this week?  David Covey!  Well, he's not technically challenging one of the Dirty Dozen... more like the ringleader for the Dirty Dozen, Speaker Dade Phelan!  David Covey is a very viable challenger -- in fact, he actually helped us launch a True Texas Project in his area!  I'd say it's definitely worth throwing a few bucks his way.  We are a statewide organization, and we need to wield our statewide influence! Please do what you can to help.

Let Us Pray

Lord, we are feeling the energy grow across Texas to reclaim ground we neglected to hold onto.  Give us strength and give us favor! Amen.

Fran's Friday Message

Did you know that when a point of order is sustained in the Texas House, it only takes 10 members to sign a challenge it?  Just 10!  And did you know that during recent regular and special sessions, several RPT priority bills were killed on Democrat points of order, sustained by Speaker Phelan, and our grassroots champions could not find 10 members willing to sign on to a challenge?  Just 10!  It's a sad state of affairs when Republican House members will not support Republican priorities, and place more importance on loyalty to the Speaker than they do to the voters who elected them.

This week's Friday message talks about winning a battle victory, but that the war goes on.  We need grassroots activists engaged like never before!  The apparent corruption and collusion with Democrats among House Republicans cannot go unchallenged.  Surely we can find just 10 good men or women!

Read the full message here, and gear up for 2024!

Stay Engaged!
Fran Rhodes, President

Play Ball!  🥎

A few years back, I wanted to build unity by cheering on a True Texan flag football team.  Uh... that didn't go so well.  The ambulance had to come the very first game!  So the next season we eased up a bit and went with co-ed softball, and we've been playing ever since. The friendships I've made there have been every bit as meaningful as the friendships built on a high school team, and I've loved it!

Now we're spreading the joy!  Click the red button to find out all about our:

On Saturday, October 28, from 4-8pm, we've got our True Texans taking on the Lone Star Fighters, which includes some of our favorite elected representatives, like TX GOP Chair Matt Rinaldi, State Reps Nate Schatzline and Brian Harrison, and even Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne!

We're even starting it off with a fun homerun contest.  For $5 you get to swing for the fences 10 times.  Anyone, any age can enter! The person who hits it out the most, wins half the pot! And just to make it a little easier on us, we're playing on a youth-size ball field -- just 200' instead of 300'!  Sign up that night and just see what you can do!

Entry to the game is FREE!  A $7 hotdog meal with chips, cookie, and a drink will be available, so bring the family for some good ol' American fun.

And don't forget to wear your team colors!  Go online to buy a shirt for the big event (deadline Oct 13).

After the game, we'll all meet up for the after party at The Tipsy Oak.

All these details are on the link at the red button above, but I wanted to call your attention to it because it's gonna be SO. MUCH. FUN!

True Texans Taking Charge

Things are really starting to speed up with the elections looming. Good thing TTP already put our plan in place... True Texans Taking Charge!

  • Our new "How To" videos are getting rave reviews.  So far we've released Luke Macias on How To Vet Candidates, and Warren Norred on How To Start and Run a PAC
  • In October we're hosting our first TWO "Right Vs. ...Right?" forums, and they happen to be on the same night!  On Oct 12 in Dallas we're discussing whether pot should be legalized, and in San Antonio we're discussing school choice (a link will be up soon for that one). Hot topics with great presenters! Attend either one live and in person if you can, but they will also be recorded and made available on our You Tube channel.
  • I also want to let you know I'm having conversations with AG Ken Paxton about where he can make the rounds to various TTP meetings in the near future. Not only can he address the impeachment if you've got questions (and you do, judging by the overwhelming anger I've witnessed towards State Sen Kelly Hancock!), but more importantly, he will discuss the gross court ruling which prevents him from prosecuting election fraud.  If you recall, I wrote an op-ed on this issue in the Spring.  I'm still mad, and so is Ken.  We need to do something about it.
  • Folks will continue to file to run for office into December, so don't forget our  Candidate Recruitment webinar is available on the You Tube channel as well. It's got incredible information for those considering jumping in!
