Welcome to The Agenda (yeah - THAT agenda), your weekly update on what's happening in the LGBTQ political world. Whatever you do, don’t forward it to Mike Pence. He doesn't need to know what we're planning! Forward it to a friend instead.

Overview: This is not a drill: Super Tuesday is next week, Mike Bloomberg's staff gets in big trouble and more!
42 NEW LGBTQ CANDIDATES
Meet our 42 newest endorsed candidates! This brings our total number of candidates up to a whopping 168.
One of our newest Spotlight candidates, Brett Burman, was inspired to run after seeing the lack of transparency and corruption in the Pennsylvania House.
Spotlight candidate Stephanie Byers is running to be the first openly trans person elected to that state legislature or any state legislature in the Midwest, adding another essential LGBTQ voice to the Kansas House of Representatives.
Kristen Browde, running for New York State Assembly, was also elevated to Spotlight status. Kristen, an Emmy award-winning journalist, will make history as the first openly trans person elected in New York state. She also earned an endorsement from LPAC!
SUPER TUESDAY, NEXT TUESDAY
Georgette Gómez, running to make history in California’s 53rd Congressional District, earned another big endorsement from Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal!
And an extremely exciting endorsement for Spotlight candidate and San Diego’s future first openly LGBTQ mayor, Todd Gloria: Georgette Gómez!!!
In the Houston area this weekend? Sign up to knock doors for newly elevated Spotlight candidate Ann Johnson and help her win her Texas House primary for House District 134!
Our other Texas House Spotlight candidate Shawn Terry took a minute to thank his campaign staff and volunteers during early voting.

B IS FOR BIGOTS
• Like candidate, like staff: Michael Bloomberg has a history of negative comments about women, lesbians and the trans community. So perhaps it isn’t surprising that his state director had this to say about Pete Buttigieg. As Mayor Parker said, Bloomberg must apologize.
This is Shevrin Jones's first race as an openly LGBTQ candidate, but his opponent was quick with the bigotry. In an announcement speech, the candidate claimed “there is an image that God says a marriage should look like, that families should look like. And that’s what we’re gonna fight for.” Like for Pete, Victory Fund is fighting back for Shevrin.
Despite its egalitarian origins, the Internet is now often often used for homophobia and hate. Case in point: a fake Grindr profile targeting Victory Fund endorsee and Sacramento City Councilmember Steve Hansen was circulated in an attempt to smear our candidate..

CANDIDATE SPOTLIGHT: KIM JACKSON

WHAT WE'RE READING
Let’s end the week on a high note, with a series of stories about LGBTQ progress.
Happy Black History Month! We stand on the shoulders of giants like Barbara Jordan, Marsha P. Johnson, and more.
We’re biased, but we loved Frank Bruni’s latest, The Case for Pete Buttigieg.
Speaking of Bloomberg, it appears he forgot to buy loyalty when he hired his campaign staff. Some candidates don’t have that type of stress!
Jon Hoadley, our candidate for Michigan’s 6th Congressional District, earned an endorsement from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer!
Spotlight candidate Sarah McBride is no stranger to making LGBTQ history. Now she’s battling to be Delaware’s first openly trans elected official.
In Baltimore, Spotlight candidate Mary Washington is in a three-way tie for second place. Today is also her anniversary!!

Paid for by the LGBTQ Victory Fund and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
