It was an honor to speak at the announcement of the new Office of Gun Violence Prevention

Hey John – Yesterday I was on the podium at the White House, where I was honored to speak as part of President Biden’s announcement of the new Office of Gun Violence Prevention.

I talked about Jordan’s death, how it impacted me, and how we MUST take action to put an end to the pain that gun violence inflicts on our communities daily. I’m proud to have played a part in this historic step forward for our movement.

I'm celebrating this important milestone, but there's more work to be done. Please pitch in a donation to my re-election campaign so I can continue standing up to the gun lobby.

WATCH THE SPEECH

This new Office of Gun Violence Prevention is a really big deal, John. For years, gun safety advocates have been calling for a coordinated federal response to this critical issue. Now we’ll have a centralized office to work with states and ensure proper implementation of the legislation we’ve already passed in Congress.

Ten years ago, I never would have dreamed that I’d be on stage at the White House alongside the President. When Jordan was killed, I told myself I’d do whatever it took in my mission to make sure that no other family would go through what I did. I hope he’s proud of me today.

If you can, please donate to my campaign so I can continue to withstand the attacks from Republicans and the NRA.

DONATE NOWWhile this is an important step forward, the fight’s not over. We’re sure to face even more opposition from the NRA and the GOP politicians they back. I’m in this for the long haul, and I hope you’ll support me along the way.

Onward,

Lucy McBath
