Friend,
Last Saturday, on the one-year anniversary of Mahsa Amini's murder by the Iranian "morality police," I joined activists throughout the district to reflect on her life and renew our calls for justice and human rights in Iran. On Monday, we presented a Proclamation to the Iranian American Women Foundation for their tireless advocacy on behalf of Iranian American women and proclaimed September 18th as Mahsa Amini Day in West Hollywood.

Mahsa's life will not be forgotten. Her name has already become a symbol, fueling the fight for gender equality around the world.
The courage of the women and girls at the forefront of the #WomanLifeFreedom movement inspires us all to stand up for human rights, no matter the opposition. I am proud to stand in solidarity with them.
With gratitude,
— Mayor Sepi Shyne
