Hey folks,

My name’s Marie and I don’t look like your average Congressperson. For one, I’m a woman, a mother, the daughter of an immigrant, and in my thirties. Not to mention that I own an auto repair shop with my husband. You’re probably not shocked that a lot of people didn’t think I’d flip Washington State’s third district. Well, I did.

Like a lot of the Blue Dogs, I took on an extremist election denier and I won.

Now, I’m a co-chair of the Blue Dogs and my story is why I’m asking you to chip in and help us defeat the most extreme Republicans across the country.

The guy I beat was not only an election denier and conspiracy theorist, he also put a known member of the hate-group the Proud Boys on his staff (yes, those Proud Boys… the ones who stormed the Capitol). He even went on the record claiming that it was somehow unmasculine to watch sports…

What I learned from running for Congress (and winning) in rural Washington State was that people don’t want wack-job conspiracy theorists in office who are spending more time in alt-right chat rooms than working for their constituents. They want normal, hardworking people who are willing to take a stand and say, enough!

That’s what I did, that’s what all my fellow Blue Dogs have done, and it’s what the candidates we’re supporting in rural and red districts across the country are doing. It’s also why we need your help.

The money you chip in doesn’t just go to another cookie-cutter Democrat, it goes directly to the folks in some of the toughest fights in the entire country. Trust me, I know, I’m one of them. I’m asking you today to give $10, $15, even $20 bucks to help us take the gavel back from Kevin McCarthy and the extremists who put him in power.

When I got to DC, I remember sitting on the steps of the Capitol building and feeling grateful. Grateful for the people like you who chipped in a few of their hard-earned dollars to make sure we could help keep a threat to our democracy out of Congress. I didn’t do it with big checks from DC, I did it with people like you. Today, I’m grateful all over again for your support.
