| Joe Biden has just taken firearms restrictions to a new level, now that he has created an office of gun control called “The Office of Gun Violence Prevention.” | | This new office will be staffed by anti-gun lobbyists, including representatives from Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety and the Community Justice Action Fund. | | The Community Justice Action Fund’s website displays a list of agenda items, and the SECOND ONE is weaponizing a public health emergency to impose gun control! | | That’s why every member of Congress needs to immediately co-sponsor the Protecting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Act, which was just introduced in the House by Rep. Michael Cloud and in the Senate by Sen. Mike Braun. | | This bill would protect gun owners from further unnecessary, arbitrary, and unconstitutional actions that an anti-gun administration or Department of Health and Human Services could use to impose gun control under the guise of a “public emergency” declaration. |
| After the governor of New Mexico used an “emergency” declaration to justify a ban on carrying firearms in public, GOA successfully filed a lawsuit to prevent her unconstitutional order from taking effect. | | But Congress should not rely on lawsuits from GOA to prevent Biden from using a national emergency to impose gun control. | | Instead, they need to act preemptively to restrict the emergency powers of the Biden Administration. | | Anti-gun groups have been urging Biden to declare a “gun violence emergency” since the day he took office… | | …And as Biden seeks reelection, he’s going to be eager to make concessions to the rabidly anti-gun groups that bankroll his campaign. | | There’s truly no concept more dangerous to our Republic than the idea that constitutional rights can be suspended at the whim of an executive or anti-gun bureaucrat. | | If the government can suspend your Second Amendment rights by invoking an “emergency” declaration, that same logic can be applied to the rest of the Constitution. | | It’s not just your right to carry a firearm that’s at risk… | | Your right to free speech, your right to due process, and even your right to worship freely are all on the line too. | | Aidan Johnston
