Team — Last week, Judge Hanen of Texas issued a decision we’ve been waiting on for months, and unfortunately, he ruled against DACA.
Once again, DACA recipients like me, and all the folks who were never eligible for DACA, are left in limbo. And let’s be clear: eligibility for DACA leaves most undocumented youth today out of the program.
That’s just one of the many reasons that DACA was never enough. Our fight is for a pathway to citizenship.
If I had citizenship instead of temporary DACA protections, I would’ve been able to help care for my grandmother in Mexico when she first developed Alzheimer’s. It would have given me and my family the chance to say goodbye before she passed away last year.
With citizenship, I wouldn’t have any limits on where I’m allowed to travel or what I’m allowed to do because of my status — what jobs I can have, where I can go to school, and more.
DACA has changed my life and the lives of so many undocumented people like me — but we are here to stay and we need permanent protections.
In this critical moment after the negative decision last week, United We Dream Action is leading the fight to secure a pathway to citizenship from Congress and the Biden administration, and we need you to join us in this fight:
