Greta Kemp Martin for Attorney General

Team,

As I continue providing Mississippians with concrete, proactive plans in my campaign to be your Attorney General, I want to discuss our initiatives for fostering positive change in our law enforcement system. This is a long email, so if you’re already familiar with my plans to improve law enforcement in Mississippi and want to support my campaign, you can click here.

My vision for the role of Attorney General is one of fairness, justice, and accountability, where the rights of all individuals are protected, and law enforcement agencies serve as pillars of trust within our communities while providing the resources and support that our officers deserve.

My connection to law enforcement is deeply personal. It's woven into the fabric of my family's history. My grandfathers, T. B. Holland, and Bob Kemp, dedicated their lives to serving as police officers in Tishomingo County. My uncle, Jeff Kemp, served his community as a constable for many years before his passing. I have had the incredible privilege of witnessing my father don a badge and head out daily to protect and serve the people of Tishomingo County.

As Mississippi’s Attorney General, I am committed to providing strong support and oversight of law enforcement agencies. It is a fine, delicate balance between being an ally for law enforcement and giving direction when needed to ensure the public trust if misconduct has occurred involving police. I stand uniquely prepared for this role as someone who has personal knowledge of law enforcement but understands that oversight is needed.

One of my top priorities is the swift investigation and resolution of officer-involved abuse of force cases, including shootings and clear evidence of misconduct. These incidents demand transparency and accountability. To achieve this, my office will dedicate resources to expedite these investigations, working closely with law enforcement agencies while upholding the principles of fairness and impartiality.

Advocating for the widespread implementation of body-worn cameras for officers is another vital part of our plan. These cameras serve as a tool for transparency and accountability. We will work tirelessly to secure funding and resources to equip officers with body-worn cameras and, equally important, ensure that the footage is regularly reviewed in incidents involving the use of force or misconduct.

Mississippi, we are just days away from a pivotal moment in our state's history – a statewide election when the people of Mississippi exercise their precious right to vote and make a choice that will determine our future. We face a fundamental decision: Do we continue with the status quo, electing leaders who have held our state back, or do we chart a course toward a brighter future?

Mississippians deserve someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and work tirelessly for the betterment of Mississippi's people. That someone is me, Greta Kemp Martin, and I am ready to serve as your Attorney General.

Together, we can bring about the change that Mississippi so desperately needs. Can I count on you to support my campaign to create solutions in Mississippi by chipping in $25 or any other amount today?
