This year, DC has seen a return to "public safety" strategies that criminalize life in our city. Politicians and community leaders have slid back into law and order rhetoric while pushing expansions of policies that have ripped apart communities for decades. Whole communities rose up in 2020 to move past these policies, and we have a duty to make sure the Mayor and Council don't take a step back. Please join our allies in the Defund MPD coalition on Tuesday 9/26 at 7pm for a special teach-in to learn about the harm that these policies pose and how we can work in solidarity to stop and reverse the criminalization of DC.
