I have devastating news to share. We thought gray wolves were recovering after receiving protections in Yellowstone. But a trophy hunter rampage violently wiped out 25 wolves just last year. That’s an entire pack. Now, only 89 gray wolves remain in Yellowstone. And the second a wolf sets its little paws over park lines, it’s fair game for brutal hunters to massacre them. The Northern Rockies states bordering Yellowstone National Park have limited safeguards to keep gray wolves safe. Trophy hunters are targeting and gunning down these helpless creatures. What’s worse -- they use the most brutal methods imaginable. Choking wolves to death with neck snares. Chasing them down with helicopters. Even dynamiting nursing wolf mamas and their baby pups inside their dens. And it’s all completely legal.
All the while, hunters and Big Polluters are fighting against protections for wolves. Why? So they can keep killing for “fun” and take over the land for mining and logging. When federal protections were cut for gray wolves, trophy hunters went on a killing spree. Hundreds of wolves were murdered in a matter of days! Colorado conservationists are working against the odds to protect wolves and the forests they call home. But Colorado’s wolves aren’t bound by state lines. They can legally be tortured and killed as soon as they leave the state.
Not to mention, trophy hunters and Big Oil lobbies are actively pushing against protections for these precious creatures. Their hope is to kill them for sport and invade their habitats. Big Polluters want to open up wolf habitat for mining and logging. All of this blood and destruction -- just for the sake of corporate greed.
These actions have contributed to the gutting of the Endangered Species Act and protections for wolves, bears, and other vulnerable species. Now, only 6,000 wolves remain in the lower 48 states. The time to act is now, while there are still wolves left to save!

Believe it or not, wolves are vital to the ecosystems they live in. They help keep elk and deer populations in check, allowing other plant and animal species to thrive. What’s more, the remains of their kills redistribute nutrients and feed scavengers. They truly are a keystone species!
That’s why each death of this iconic species is a big deal. Since a recent rule rolled back federal protections for gray wolves, the trophy hunting lobby has pushed for even more cruel and inhumane laws throughout wolves’ natural habitats. And even worse, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service could reinstate federal protections for these creatures -- but has still failed to do so!
