2 Steps to Prevent the Sexual Abuse of Millions of Children

Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” And with your help, we are moving far beyond a mere ounce of prevention.

In our efforts to end sexual abuse and exploitation, NCOSE seeks out the highest impact tactics that will prevent harm for the greatest amount of people. This is what we call “mass-scale prevention.”

Together, we are preventing the sexual abuse of innumerable children—not just striving to put on band-aids and patch up wounds after they’ve already been abused (though survivor services are of course extremely important as well).

Two tactics which have an especially large impact in preventing child sexual abuse are:

1) Preventing predator’s online access to children

2) Preventing childhood pornography exposure, an established risk factor for child sexual abuse perpetration and victimization

2 Things YOU Can Do to Maximize Your Impact

 Undercover Investigation into Pornhub Continues

Sound Investigation released the second video of its undercover investigation into Pornhub. Pornhub's own employees continue to reaffirm what NCOSE has been saying all along: that they do NOT verify the age and consent of individuals depicted in their videos.

Journalist: Do you think there's like videos of underage still getting through?

Pornhub Employee: Of course, of course...You don't know who that is. We don't have consent of that person, and we're running ads, like as a business we're monetizing content that, we don't know where this comes from, we don't know who's on that video, we don't know the age of the person on the video...

Watch the video.

📣 ACTION: Call for Meaningful Age & Consent Verification!

Pornhub and other websites distributing pornography MUST be made to verify the age and meaningful consent of every individual depicted in their videos. Sign the petition now!

Google Thanks NCOSE for Influencing Safety Improvements ... And We Thank YOU!

Recently, Google rolled out significant safety changes we have long been asking for, including automatically blurring sexually explicit images for all users and improving reporting procedures for image-based sexual abuse. Now, Google has formally thanked NCOSE for influencing these improvements:

“Google is proud to implement improved protections to help people control their personal explicit images and their online experience. We appreciate the feedback from survivors and subject matter experts like the National Center on Sexual Exploitation that help improve practices around online safety.”

But this isn't just NCOSE's victory. So many of you joined us in making these requests of Google, by signing our actions over the years. THANK YOU for being a champion for change!
