Fonk Road Closed for Daytime Repairs October 2nd through October 5th, 2023

 

Fonk Road, south of Beaver Lake in Mount Vernon, will be closed for repairs on Monday, October 2nd, through Thursday, October 5th, 2023,from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., EXCEPT for Wednesday, October 4th,  the closure will begin at 9:30 a.m. to accommodate students on late start at Sedro-Woolley Schools. Road closure times should not impact bussing schedules for students and their families. Full access will be restored each evening.

Skagit County Public Works will be installing a series of 24-inch overflow pipes under the roadway. The work is necessary to account for the smaller plastic culvert placed in August inside the former steel culvert. The new overflow pipes will help make up the hydraulic difference to convey water that could be impounded on either side of Fonk Road.

We ask the public to please steer clear of the construction zone while the area is closed for the safety of our crew and to ensure installation of the culverts can be finished as soon as possible.
