Working to secure the border...   Washington, D.C. - I returned to D.C. on Monday to continue working to secure our border and slash inflationary federal spending. Unfortunately we still have much to do before September 30th. As always, I welcome you to share your opinions with me. On Tuesday, I enjoyed speaking with Dr. John Gill and other Dallas doctors from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. We spoke about our shared mission to craft policies empowering our medical providers to focus on patient care instead of paperwork. Later, I joined the House Committee on Ways & Means for a hearing on surprise medical billing protections. I'm working to improve transparency and make sure this administration and CMS are doing their job so doctors can focus on their patients instead of red tape. After, I met with energy sector leaders to discuss my work to unleash American energy. I share their concerns about the Biden Admin’s hostilities against our oil and gas producers, which is driving companies to shift production overseas. It was an honor to receive the International Association of Drilling Contractor's Legislator Award for my work to expand domestic energy production! Then, it was great to meet with Coleman who traveled from Southlake to D.C. with the National Foundation of Ectodermal Dysplasias. I appreciated the chance to hear his story and discuss my work to improve our healthcare system. On Wednesday, I had the chance to meet with North Texas members of the Direct Selling Association. It was great to see some familiar faces, including my friend, Anne Crews, who has been a pioneer with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Thanks for stopping by! I also had the chance to join my House Committee on Small Business colleagues for a hearing on the impact of Name, Image, Likeness for collegiate athletes. It was great to see Jeremiah Donati, Athletic Director at TCU, representing North Texas as a witness! Texas-24 Work of the Week I’m helping to lead the fight against Canada’s discriminatory digital services tax! This week, Reps. Pascrell (D-NJ), LaHood (R-IL), DelBene (D-WA), and I brought together a bipartisan group of 41 of our colleagues to show our strong opposition to this harmful proposal. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Heroes are Grapevine Police Department’s Emergency Communications Specialists, Elizabeth Pickett and Noelle Dorgan! I’m glad to join the Grapevine Fire Department in honoring Elizabeth and Noelle for playing a crucial role in saving a North Texan’s life. TX-24 Veteran Commendation The Congressional Veteran Commendation has been created to honor the distinguished veterans around the country and in TX24 and to preserve their stories for future generations of Americans. Veterans who are nominated must live in the 24th District of Texas (you can check here) and have served our nation with honor consistent with the finest traditions of military service. The nominated veterans must also have served their community as a civilian. Click here to complete and submit the nomination packet no later than October 13, 2023 at 5pm. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch my full interview with Fox Business on the ongoing Impeachment Inquiry. Watch my full interview with Newsmax on securing the border amid budget talks.
