Government funding runs out in eight days.

Clean funding bills are the best path forward to keep the federal government running, but the far-right extremists are digging in their heels and refusing to move forward unless their efforts to ban mifepristone, block gun violence prevention efforts, and more are met.

Make no mistake, this Republican-led shutdown is entirely avoidable and unnecessary.

A shutdown would be disastrous for families everywhere. The veterans benefits, Social Security checks, and childcare assistance that so many Americans rely on would be impacted. Not to mention the federal employees who will be out of work.

House Republicans need to stop sowing chaos, end the infighting, and do their jobs – as the voters elected them to do.

We can only expect more of this reckless political theater if the GOP holds their House majority next year.
