John,
Right now, I’m sitting in the White House Rose Garden, waiting to hear President Biden and Vice President Harris officially announce the Office of Gun Violence Prevention. I have been working alongside other survivors at Brady to push for exactly this action for years and seeing our tireless advocacy pay off means so much to me and our movement as a whole.

Will you join me in showing your wholehearted support for the Biden Administration’s lifesaving move to create the first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention?

This is an historic move by a President who has already done so much for our movement, having listened to gun violence survivors and experts and taken action where other lawmakers have failed to. The creation of an Office of Gun Violence Prevention, led by gun violence survivors, will ensure the executive branch is focused and coordinated on proven solutions that will save lives, like implementing the consequential Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
This is the kind of leadership that gives me hope – as a mother, a gun violence survivor, and just as an American. It is a turning point, John, that will change how the federal government responds to an epidemic that kills tens of thousands of Americans each year.

I am fighting every day to end this epidemic so that no other family has to feel the loss that I have felt – and to give my children the world that their grandmother would have wanted for them. As a gun violence survivor, this work is not always easy, but days like today remind me how much we can accomplish together. President Biden has listened to the urgent call of survivors and activists and we need the rest of our lawmakers to do the same.
|
Congress must follow Biden’s lead and make gun violence prevention their priority. That’s why we want to show immense support for Biden’s creation of an Office of Gun Violence Prevention and make it clear to our lawmakers that this is the kind of bold action that our country needs. Will you join me in supporting this lifesaving move?

Let this moment galvanize us. Let it prove that our calls for change are being heard, that our collective voice is a powerful force. With the full strength of the President and Vice President behind us, we must keep fighting to save lives and end this epidemic.
Thank you for continuing to be so strong in this fight, John.
