Wave of strikes continue

John,?the United Auto Workers continue to hold the line against the Big Three and more workers have been called to stand up on the picket lines!

Now, auto workers at 38 parts and distribution facilities at General Motors and Stellantis will join the strike. They will stand with the 13,000 members who have been on strike since September 14 in Ohio, Missouri, and Michigan.

In a live update this morning, UAW President Shawn Fain acknowledged progress on contract negotiations with Ford. Proposals have been met to restore Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA),? the right to strike over plant closures, and the immediate conversion of all temporary employees with at least 90 days employment upon contract ratification. However, Local 900 at the Ford Michigan assembly plant will remain on strike as the UAW pushes more demands.

?

Stellantis and General Motors have rejected proposals related to job security, converting temps to full time employees, and wage increases to protect workers from inflation.?

?

With the expansion of the strike on the Big Three, UAW members will need the community to stand in solidarity in the coming days. Keep an eye on this space for ways you can show up with them!

?

In Solidarity,
