** DEMOCRATS WILL ALLOCATE 1,499 PLEDGED DELEGATES THROUGH SUPER TUESDAY

To win the Democratic nomination, a candidate needs the support of at least 1,991 pledged delegates on the first ballot at the Democratic National Convention, scheduled for July 13-16 in Milwaukee.

After three presidential nominating events—the Iowa and Nevada caucuses and the New Hampshire primary—101 pledged delegates have been allocated in the Democratic presidential primary, or 2.5% of the pledged delegates at stake in the whole process. Bernie Sanders leads with an estimated 45 pledged delegates. Pete Buttigieg is in second with an estimated 25 delegates, followed by Joe Biden with 15, Elizabeth Warren with eight, and Amy Klobuchar with seven. These estimates reflect projections as of Feb. 25.

** AVERAGE TIME BETWEEN STATE LEG FILING DEADLINES AND PRIMARIES IS 85 DAYS
------------------------------------------------------------

We recently took a look at the times spanning filing deadlines and primary elections. Among the states holding 2020 legislative elections, the average length between the two is 85 days. The three states with the shortest time between the two (63 days) are Connecticut, Delaware, and South Dakota, while the three states with the longest length of time are Kentucky (130 days), Missouri (126), and Tennessee (126).

** SANDERS WINS NEVADA DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS

Bernie Sanders won the Nevada caucuses last Saturday, which marked the third straight Democratic presidential nominating event where Sanders received the most initial votes. Joe Biden was second with 20% of the vote. Pete Buttigieg was third with 15% and Elizabeth Warren was fourth with 10%.
