Hi John,
Karin Asensio, Executive Director of the Colorado Democratic Party here and I want to introduce you to our colleague and ally, Andre Wagner, Executive Director of the Mississippi Democratic Party. One of the great things about Colorado being a success story in recent years is the opportunity to partner with our Democratic friends in red states to share best practices and elevate their stories.
We’re reaching out to you because our friends in Mississippi have some crucial statewide elections coming up – and Mississippi’s are actually this November. We know what you’re thinking, “Mississippi? That’s a red state. No way a Democrat could win the Governor’s seat there.”
They used to say the same thing about Virginia, Georgia, Arizona, and yes, even Colorado. This year, we have a fighting chance at winning an ultra-competitive gubernatorial election that could have nationwide implications. To help our friends in Mississippi win, we could use your help. Republicans have been taking Mississippians for granted for so long that they’re now completely out of step with what the majority of Mississippi voters want.
79% of Mississippians support fully funding education, meanwhile Republicans, sitting on a $4 billion surplus, refuse to invest in our children and our future.
Nearly 80% of Mississippians support Medicaid expansion, yet Republican leadership won’t even allow so much as a conversation on the issue to start.
Just like in Colorado, Mississippi public schools have been chronically underfunded by a total of $3 billion since 2007. About half of Mississippi’s rural hospitals are at risk of closure and over 100 hospitals are experiencing some kind of financial hardship.
Since the Dobbs decision, Mississippi has outlawed abortion and as a result, has seen an additional 5,000 unplanned births each year.
B ut it doesn't have to be this way. Everyone deserves access to reproductive care. Children deserve to go to fully funded public schools that prepare them for the future. Everyone deserves to have access to high quality, affordable health care when they need it most. We all deserve leadership that truly has our best interests at heart.
We believe in a Mississippi that has common decency, common purpose and pursues common sense solutions to the issues we face, just like you believe in the same in Colorado. And we know we can deliver on this, just like we have in Colorado.
That’s why we’re asking you to split a donation between the Mississippi Democratic Party and the Colorado Democratic Party to help us achieve these goals and deliver for our people. Click here to contribute whatever you can today >> [[link removed]]
You’ve stepped up for Colorado, John, and that’s why we’ve been able to establish the infrastructure we have here and win the races we have. It’s why we’ll defend those victories in 2024 and go after MAGA extremists like Lauren Boebert.
That’s why we’re reaching out to you to ask if you’ll split a contribution so that we can help Mississippi develop the ground game to win that you’ve helped us build in Colorado. [[link removed]]
