John -

The climate crisis is here, and our future can’t wait.

That’s why we’ve been on the ground in New York City alongside tens of
thousands of climate activists rising up and taking action during Climate
Week — not only against fossil fuel companies and the financial
institutions that fund them, but also world leaders like President Biden.

The climate movement mobilized with 75,000 climate activists to flood the
streets of NYC and demand President Biden phase out fossil fuels and
demand equitable renewable energy solutions for all.

We participated in mass civil disobedience, joining thousands to protest
and shut down the entrances to some of the biggest funders of the fossil
fuel industry: The Federal Reserve, Bank of America, Citi Bank, and
Blackrock.

Amidst all of that direct action, our policy team was following and
responding to the summits themselves, and our Executive Director May Boeve
spoke at a panel on the Sustainable Development Goals at the United
Nations.

These mass actions for a livable planet and future began as global leaders
arrived for the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations
Climate Summit.

President Biden definitely felt the pressure from our climate movement,
and we’ll share more of our reflections on how Biden did this week. But we
want to know how YOU think Biden is doing on climate right now:

[ [link removed] ]Can you give Biden a climate grade from A to F? We are polling some of
our strongest supporters to get a sense of how he's doing and how we can
continue to ramp up the pressure on the administration.

Here's the first question:

President Biden gave a last-minute speech at the U.N. General Assembly and
mentioned the need to take climate change seriously.

The next day, he announced that he’d use his executive power to create the
“American Climate Corps” — a paid training program that aims to bring
20,000 young people into jobs that will aid climate transition. This is a
win for the movement and for the young organizers who called for it!

But Biden did not have a seat at the table at the vital U.N. Climate
Ambition Summit, and has not yet risen to the people’s loudest and most
urgent demand: to halt fossil fuel projects, declare a Climate Emergency,
and be the climate leader we need.

We can’t stave off climate catastrophe without ending the era of fossil
fuels and powering up a just transition to renewable
energy, John.
President Biden needs to do better.

Climate Week isn’t over yet, and we’ll continue to demand President Biden
do what’s right. But we want to know what you think of President Biden’s
actions during Climate Week so far.
