Our next session of Fascism 101 is on Thursday, September 28th at 4 pm PT / 7 pm ET! Our focus is Fascism, Male Supremacy, Gender and Sexuality.

Our speakers will include Trishala Deb, Ashley Underwood, Heron Greenesmith and Linda Burnham will moderate the discussion. Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation will be available.

Trishala Deb has been a social worker, community organizer, funder and advocate before joining the Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity as the Director of National Programs. Trishala oversees implementation of a funding strategy to support social justice organizations that are responding to right wing movements. Trishala spent the last 25 years with organizations such as the Audre Lorde Project, the Arcus Foundation, Caring Across Generations, and Thousand Currents. Her work has focused on movements for racial and economic justice, LGBTST liberation, immigrant rights, and ending state violence.

Ashley Underwood is the director at Equity Forward. She is a reproductive justice and public health advocate with an extensive background in working to improve maternal and sexual health outcomes through program implementation and development. Ashley was previously a research associate and senior researcher at Equity Forward. Before that, she worked as a research and program manager at NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio. Ashley holds a master’s degree in public health from Case Western Reserve University.

Heron Greenesmith is currently transitioning from Political Research Associates, where they researched the anti-LGBTQIA right-wing, to the Transgender Law Center, where they will be the organization's next deputy director of policy. Heron lives in Boston with their small family, and is a co-founder of BiLaw, the group of bisexual and pansexual lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals. Heron also co-founded the Polyamory Legal Advocacy Coalition and teaches law part-time as adjunct faculty at Boston University School of Law.

The goals of this 4th session are to:
- Explore how male supremacy and patriarchal values and practices are foundational to fascist ideology.
- Identify the ways in which women’s rights and autonomy are a key front of struggle against authoritarianism and fascism.
- Explore how and why homophobia and transphobia have become central to far right and fascist narratives and policy initiatives.

Explorar como la supremacía masculina y los valores y prácticas patriarcales son la base de la ideología fascista.
Identificar las maneras en que los derechos de las mujeres y la autonomía son el frente clave a la lucha contra el autoritarismo y el fascismo.
Explorar cómo y por qué la homofobia y la transfobia se han vuelto centrales a las narrativas e iniciativas políticas de las narrativas de extrema derecha y fascistas.
