We are in the midst of a hunger crisis. At the Coalition, we know that hunger is preventable, but we need your help!

We are 1 week away from the Race Against Hunger. If you haven't already, help us make a difference and sign up to join us on Saturday, September 30th at the Navy Yard or join our group of virtual participants raising funds and awareness all across the country! Proceeds from the Race Against Hunger support our critical work at the Coalition Against Hunger, as well as 41 of our anti-hunger partners across the region.

If you won’t be joining us this year, please consider making a donation to support our work to ensure all Philadelphians have the food they need to live healthy lives

We need a few more volunteers to help make the Race Against Hunger a huge success! If you're not walking or running the 5K but want to get involved, sign up to help us along the 5K course.

Policy and Advocacy

The US Census Bureau released their 2022 data on poverty which showed that both the overall poverty rate and the child poverty rate were up substantially from 2021 in large part due to the expiration of pandemic related supports. This data makes it clear that poverty is a policy choice.

Last week, we teamed up with Philabundance and our statewide partners to visit the offices of U.S. Reps Brian Fitzpatrick, Brendan Boyle, Dwight Evans, Madeleine Dean, Mary Gay Scanlon, and Chrissy Houlahan. A statewide coalition of anti-hunger organizations also visited the offices of Senators Casey and Fetterman to share ways that SNAP could be improved in the upcoming Farm Bill.

Food Pantries & Soup Kitchens

"What I love most about the Victory in Partnership program is connecting hunger-fighting organizations. They are experts and offer a wealth of knowledge and experience to each other. Seeing their facilities, learning about their programs, and hearing about their impact on and commitment to their communities is always inspiring." - Gavin Perez-Canto, Coalition Against Hunger's Community Food Resource Coordinator

We recently connected our VIP Partners Homies Helping Homies and West Chester Food Cupboard. Rob and Barb from the West Chester Food Cupboard toured us all around their facility as the two groups shared their experiences and best practices.

Share Your SNAP Experience

Share Your Experience With SNAP

We want to hear directly from individuals with experience applying for and/or getting SNAP benefits in order to understand the positives and negatives of the program, as well as hear suggestions for how it could be improved.

With the Farm Bill reauthorization ongoing, it's critical that SNAP be protected from additional restrictions, and we know there are many ways to improve the program. Your experience can help!

We are asking participants to:

  1. Participate in a short call with a member of the Coalition Against Hunger staff to go over the project.
  2. Come to the Coalition Against Hunger’s office in Old City for a 1 hour pre-arranged interview about your experience with SNAP.

 MAKE A STAND AGAINST HUNGER!

We strive to build a community where all people have the food they need to lead healthy lives. Hunger is preventable. Thank you for your continued support of our work!
