More work to do!

It's a great day to be a True Texan!

Who doesn't like winning?  I certainly like winning. And this week, I'm on a huge "winning" high reading and hearing about all the fall out post impeachment acquittal.  TTP has been on the front lines of opposition to this impeachment since it was first voted on in the House, and we have now been validated in our opinions by numerous media sources, elected representatives, and individuals.  I know there are some out there who do not agree with our position, and that's OK!  We never require agreement on any issue, but for those folks, please remember that our opposition was to the process, which was shoddy, illegal and unconstitutional.  We must fight back against such government tyranny wherever we find it, if we are ever to have even a smidgen of faith in our government.

Thank you to everyone who engaged in the opposition - it worked!  Your work paid off and we have won this battle.  But as my friend Luke Macias has said, this is a battle victory, not a win the war victory.  The fight continues, and the people in the House and Senate who supported this impeachment need to be challenged for their decisions.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

It's now time to turn our attention to getting rid of the House representatives who thought it was more important to be loyal to Dade Phelan than to respect the rule of law, the Texas Constitution, and the citizens of Texas.

TTP has been highlighting 12 House Representatives known as the "Dirty Dozen" in our weekly newsletters.  I just can't stress enough the importance of getting behind the challengers to these representatives in the March primaries.  These 12 represent the worst of the worst.  While there are more than 12 that should be defeated at the ballot box, success in these 12 would remove some of the most liberal Republicans in the TX House, and hopefully replace them with true grassroots common sense people who will respect the voters who elected them.

And don't forget the Speaker himself, who is the 13th in the bakers dozen. For the first time in his career as a House Representative, he has gained 2 primary challengers in his home district.  David Covey and Alicia Davis.  Wouldn't it be nice to see him removed from the House altogether by his voters?

During the recent regular and special sessions, there were several times when an RPT priority bill was killed on a point of order.  Ten signatures on a challenge to the Speaker's ruling could have put the point of order to a vote.  But our grassroots champions could only find 5 members willing to put their name on a challenge.  They could not find 10 good men! (or women).  Imagine if the Dirty Dozen were all replaced by 12 good men/women who would stand on principal instead of loyalty to the Speaker!  What a difference that could make to the operation of the Texas House!

So get ready!  Primary season is already well under way and we all need to devote our time, talent and treasure to good challengers to these House Republican traitors!  Donate what you can in dollars, volunteer to help them, promote them with your family and friends, do whatever it takes.  The stakes have never been higher!

I hear people saying all the time "Throw them out!",  "Get rid of him/her", "Defeat all the incumbents", "They all need to go!".  You get the picture.  But guess what?  That's easier said than done.  First we have to find qualified candidates to run against these people in the primary.  Then we have to get them elected!  And after that, we have to hold them accountable.

The work never ends, and there are always new battles to be fought.  Will you join us?  Our Citizen Advocate army is growing fast - be sure you are a part of it.

Stay Engaged!

Fran Rhodes, President

PS:  We expect a special session to be called by the Governor in the month of October.  The topic will be school choice, and possibly other issues.  We'll be ready to take our fight to the Capitol as soon as the Governor announces.  Next week's message will be about the pros and cons of school choice legislation.
