Friend, right now, auto workers in Detroit and across the country are striking against the Big Three automakers. This past week, I headed to the picket lines to stand in solidarity with them in their fight for a fair contract. Will you join me by adding your name to my new Stand With Workers Petition before midnight tonight?

Like so many Michiganders and Americans, I come from a proud union family. My dad was a public school teacher and a member of the National Education Association (NEA), and my mother was a nurse's aide who led the charge to unionize her workplace with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
Growing up, I heard stories of how my mother's employer tried to sabotage her unionizing efforts. But she refused to give up the fight to win her colleagues fair wages and better working conditions. My mother has always been an inspiration to me, and I was proud to carry her legacy with me on the picket lines this week. Her relentless spirit and commitment to workers' rights is exactly what this moment demands of us.

Across the nation, workers are standing up for fair pay, fair benefits, and good working conditions. They're standing up for the future of the middle class. Folks are fed up with CEOs raking in historic salaries and celebrating record profits while their wages stay the same. And it's no wonder why: It would take the average auto worker literally hundreds of years to make what their CEO makes in just one year.
Enough is enough. When times were tough, these workers made huge sacrifices to keep the American auto industry afloat. Now that times are good, these workers deserve their share of the record profits.
I'm going to continue to stand with auto workers until they win a fair contract – and I hope you will too. I'm calling on 10,000 folks to add their names to my Stand With Workers Petition. Please, Friend, will you join me and add your name now?
