You’re invited to join us for WE ACT’s 35th Anniversary Gala ([link removed]) on Wednesday, October 18th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Columbia University’s Alfred Lerner Hall. We are looking forward to marking this major milestone with our friends and supporters!

This year, we are thrilled to be honoring Richard Moore, Co-Founder and Co-Coordinator of Los Jardines Institute ([link removed]) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Richard helped put environmental justice on the map long before most environmental organizations and policymakers understood that critical gap in our environmental laws and policies. He was one of the instigators–and signatories–of the Group of 10 Letter sent to the big green groups in 1990, raising concerns about environmental justice.
Richard Moore has founded and worked on many environmental justice organizations and campaigns, including the Environmental Justice Health Alliance for Chemical Policy Reform; the Just Transition Alliance; and Coming Clean, Inc. Richard was also the first elected chair of the EPA’s National Environmental Justice Advisory Council, and was inducted into the Civil Rights Hall of Fame’s Hall of Resistance in Selma, Alabama in 2015. And just this year, Richard was awarded The Century Foundation’s 2023 Peter A.A. Berle Environmental Integrity Award. ([link removed])
