We know you get a lot of emails asking for donations —we bet it can be hard to even keep up.
But today we want to take a minute to share why we ask for your contribution and how it helps.
All across the country, Republicans are working overtime to undermine our democracy. They are passing laws making it harder to vote and easier for wannabe autocrats like Donald Trump to ignore election results he doesn’t like and stay in power forever.
At the same time, they are working to rollback rights and freedoms for millions. They jumped for joy when Roe v. Wade was overturned, and now they are in overdrive to take away more and more rights from women. Some Republicans have even proposed the death penalty for women who get an abortion or outlawing contraceptives like condoms or birth control.
Our LGBTQ+ friends are facing similar challenges, with Republicans pushing to outlaw gay marriage again or criminalize being trans. To help push this extreme ideology on Americans, Republican-controlled states have banned piles and piles of books.
These are tough times, but the thought that keeps me going is knowing that we have the power to do something about it.
