RE: CAMPAIGN UPDATE
With the second debate just a week away, I wanted to take a moment and give you some updates from the campaign on what we’re seeing and how it’s shaping up for us in the weeks ahead.
We saw a lot of ink spilled in the wake of the last debate on “who’s up,” “who’s down,” and how the entire campaign seemingly is won or lost in 90 minutes on a stage in Milwaukee. I’m here to tell you to ignore the noise and focus on the facts in front of us.
Candidates whom the press thought would leave the debate with a head of steam ended up seeing their polling stagnate or even decrease in early states – despite some of them spending over $40 million, having almost 100% name ID, or launching campaigns months before us.
These things happen because press hype or a few snappy lines on national television don’t change the fundamentals of a campaign.
For months, Tim and our campaign have been laying the groundwork and building the infrastructure that sets us apart from the field.
Let me explain why:
Our campaign went into the field in Iowa and New Hampshire post-debate. The results we got back were instructive and confirmed our belief in the path forward.

Tim has the best net favorability score among the candidates – regardless of the state. And it isn’t even close.

Over 60% of those polled describe Tim as a "conservative."

When voters are asked to describe what they’ve heard, read, or seen about Tim Scott lately, they recall some of our campaign’s core messages.

We’re the only candidate who has shown steady improvement on the ballot since we got into the race.

More than anything else, ballots are a lagging indicator that trails a candidate’s image and favorability. How favorably a candidate is viewed shows you their ceiling and floor. What you see from these numbers is that – more than anyone else in the field – we have the most room to grow.
So what does it all mean?
Tim will take the stage in Simi Valley next week and remind us, as he always does, why we’re a part of Team Tim Scott. Beyond that, I’d encourage you to remember that these nights are merely a single moment in time. Any candidate who hopes to truly capitalize on it must be disciplined and built for the long haul.
That’s us.
Tim’s high favorability across the early states, combined with the fact that most voters know him to be truly conservative, is why he has the most room to grow of anyone in the field. Our resources, deployed effectively and ready to go the distance, will be the rocket fuel that helps him do just that. Thank you for standing with Tim.
