How Do Louisiana Republicans Elect Democrats Into Office? 

...They sling dishonest attacks on fellow Republicans!

Scott McKnight is losing badly in the polls for the race of State Treasurer. So, he has decided to take the LOW ROAD. He has purchased air time in major cities in Louisiana to propagate dishonest attacks on his fellow Republican in the race for Treasurer, John Fleming.

The ads propagate two lies:

Claim #1: John Fleming voted against disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy. 

Truth: Congressman Fleming voted FOR emergency relief to New York, New Jersey and nearby states as a result of hurricane Sandy that hit the eastern seaboard in 2012. Only $23 billion was required for hurricane relief. When the bill came back to the House for final passage, Congressman Fleming was one of three Louisiana Republicans who voted to stop the additional $37 billion (for a total of $60 billion) of unrelated wasteful spending. Our national debt is now at $33 trillion dollars as a result of members of Congress taking advantage of natural disasters to waste your tax money. Why does Scott McKnight claim on his Facebook to be a fiscal conservative, yet he apparently agrees with this type of wasteful spending? He was also among state representatives who recently voted FOR busting the caps on spending in Baton Rouge led by John Bel Edwards.

Claim #2: John Fleming made a statement that he is running for Treasurer in order to run for a higher office. 

Truth: Dr. Fleming was secretly and illegally videotaped while answering a question at a Republican Women's event a year ago.  A brief snippet of Dr. Fleming answering a general question is recharacterized in the ad narrative as stating that he plans to run for treasurer in order to run for a higher office, later. However, the audio of Fleming does not come close to saying that Fleming intends to run for a higher office. Secondly, the speech was given a year ago. Dr. Fleming did not decide to run for any office until months later.
