The Road to Inflation: How an Unprecedented Federal Spending Spree Created Economic Turmoil
- A new report from The Heritage Foundation is the most comprehensive of its kind and examines the historic spending spree from both parties in Congress over the last 2 years that resulted in $7.5 trillion of new debt.
- The COVID-19 pandemic unleashed unprecedented federal fiscal and monetary actions that wasted trillions of dollars. This reckless and politically opportunistic spending spree has left the U.S. with a weakened economy, an inflation crisis, and a looming debt crisis.
- The volume and nature of the spending spree helped to create skyrocketing inflation and interest rates and created a labor shortage, reducing real household incomes and leaving store shelves bare and supply chains broken. A looming fiscal crisis has shifted from a long-term concern to a current event.
- To repair this fiscal and economic damage, and to avoid further economic calamity, Congress must return to responsible governance immediately.

Congress Must Secure the Border and End Biden’s Arson of America
- With a week of funding left in the federal fiscal year, the House is considering attaching most of the Secure the Border Act to a continuing resolution package to fund the government.
- Now, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is leading 26 original Republican co-sponsors to introduce the Senate companion of the House bill.
- Also called the Secure the Border Act, the Senate bill combines closing known loopholes that illegal aliens, cartels and the Biden administration exploit.
- Responsible senators need to uphold their oath of office and protect this country. The kind of policy tools contained in the Secure the Border Act can help us end this self-destruction. Mr. Biden’s arson of America must end.
