As President Trump said this week, Our relationship with Pakistan is a very good one. The United States is Pakistans largest export destination. U.S. companies have a long history of doing business in Pakistan, contributing to its economic development and providing high-value jobs. The work Pakistan has begun to do to fight terrorism and promote security is affording the United States and Pakistan the opportunity to strengthen and expand trade in the region and between our countries.

Secretary of Commerce Allocates $65 million for Fishery Disasters [ [link removed] ]
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced the allocation of $65 million to communities in Alaska, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and the Yurok Tribe (California) that suffered fishery disasters between 2017 and 2019.

Every Kid Counts: Census Bureau Partners With Pediatricians and Child Advocates in Effort to Count Every Child in 2020 Census [ [link removed] ]
The U.S. Census Bureau hosted an event to highlight efforts to ensure all young children are counted in the 2020 Census. Children under five years old are among population groups historically undercounted in the census. The Census Bureau is making a concerted effort to address this issue by creating community partnerships, educational programs, awareness campaigns and operational innovations with the goal of raising awareness of the importance of counting young children.

Personal incomeincreased 0.6 percent in January after increasing 0.1 percent in December. Wages and salaries, the largest component of personal income, increased 0.5 percent in January after increasing 0.1 percent in December.

New Annual Data Show First Trade Deficit Decrease Since 2013 [ [link removed] ]

The U.S. goods and services trade deficit declined 1.7% to $616.8 billion in 2019, its first annual decrease since 2013, according to new U.S. Census Bureau annual data on the international trade balance. Some of the primary aspects of trade activity between the United States and its partners over the last year occurred in crude oil, according to theU.S. International Trade in Goods and Services reportreleased this month.

U.S. to Triple Operational Weather and Climate Supercomputing Capacity [ [link removed] ]

The United States is reclaiming a global top spot in high-performance computing to support weather and climate forecasts. NOAA, part of the Department of Commerce, today announced a significant upgrade to computing capacity, storage space, and interconnect speed of its Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputing System. This upgrade keeps the agencys supercomputing capacity on par with other leading weather forecast centers around the world.

Seeking the Power of Quantum Computing in Silicon [ [link removed] ]
Despite the vast computing speed and power available to us in our palms, our desktops, and massive server farms, classical computing is reaching its limits, leaving a surprising number of conceptually simple problems essentially intractable. In general, these tend to be problems that ask, What is the most efficient way to do something? These problems become exponentially more difficult as the number of possible choices grows, and rather than explicitly determine the answer, we instead rely on best practices or instinct. But quantum computing can change that.
