Jack, it's been a rough year: News media outlets have shed a record number of jobs, while at the same time, progressive advocacy organizations have seen a drastic drop in fundraising.

Here's the thing; Daily Kos sits at the crossroads of news media and progressive activism. Daily Kos is the country's largest progressive news and activism hub.

Daily Kos hasn't been immune to the financial struggles that have plagued both of these industries. Like most news organizations, Daily Kos relies on advertising revenue to make ends meet. Additionally, like many progressive advocacy organizations, Daily Kos relies on fundraising to help cover our operating expenses.

Daily Kos has struggled for some time now with meeting our revenue goals from advertising. Thankfully, small dollar fundraising from our readers and activists have helped buoy our work during these hard times. However, like many other progressive organizations, we are now starting to see our fundraising revenue start to falter.

That's why I am writing to you today. We need your help to reach our monthly fundraising goal. We need to raise $155,909 by the end of the month. Can you support the work Daily Kos does with a donation of $5 or more?
