Answer Our Survey [[link removed]]# [#]→ Ami joined 97 other Democrats in the House to send a letter to Speaker McCarthy calling on him to advance bipartisan government funding bills to stop the threat of a shutdown. He's working tirelessly to ensure no family has to suffer because of House Republicans' refusal to act.
→ Ami just voted against Republican legislation that would prevent California from setting its own vehicle emissions standards. California is a leader in climate action nationwide and now, seven other states and districts have followed our robust clean car standards. Protecting people’s right for a safe, clean planet is a priority for Ami and should be a priority for the House.
→ The Inflation Reduction Act, the landmark climate and public health law Ami supported, has kicked into gear as the Biden Administration announced the first 10 drugs selected for Medicare price negotiation. The Inflation Reduction Act empowered Medicare to directly negotiate lower prescription drug prices to make healthcare affordable for seniors.
→ Ami is fighting to address the passport backlog and delays that are affecting huge numbers of Sacramento County residents right now. The 40 million people of our state are only serviced by three passport offices. Ami and the California Congressional delegation sent a letter to President Biden urging the State Department to set up temporary passport offices in California to increase in-person appointment capacity and address passport backlogs.
→ Last month, Ami announced a federal award of nearly $450,000 a year to address housing and education challenges in the Sacramento region. United Way California Capital Region is dedicated to fight poverty in the region and help families succeed. This grant will help them support 18 year-round members and 9 summer volunteers to aid United Way and at local non-profits as they work to address these critical issues.
