Friend,
The United States just surpassed 500 mass shootings in this year alone.
Our country is on track for its deadliest year of gun violence in recent history. And yet, our lawmakers are not taking common sense measures that are proven to save lives.
While you can count the amount of mass shootings in a year or a decade, there are truly no numbers that can encompass the trauma inflicted on a community when a mass shooting occurs.
|
What the numbers do tell us, though, is that an assault weapons ban will decrease mass shootings and gun deaths: While the assault weapons ban was in effect, there was a 37% decrease in gun massacres. And when the ban ended – thanks to despicable NRA intervention – there was a staggering 183% increase in mass shootings and a 239% increase in fatalities.
But, friend, ultimately this isn’t just about statistics – it’s about people’s lives. And we need Congress to act to save them.
