In 2022, Democrats had a fantastic year in the state of Michigan. We won my race in a historic victory, flipping a historically Republican district. Michiganders re-elected Gretchen Whitmer, securing a Democratic Trifecta in Lansing. After the doom and gloom of Trump’s Presidency, it’s easy to feel like we are finally out from behind his dark shadow.

The reality is more complicated; we are not a Democratic stronghold like California or New York. We have to continue fighting for every vote and advocating for the interests of Michiganders. We can not become complacent like we did in 2016. Democrats took Michigan for granted, ultimately resulting in Donald Trump’s victory.

Michigan is a battleground state, and ensuring Democrats win in Michigan starts with holding West Michigan.

The way to win a swing state is to win the swing districts within the state. First and foremost, we have to win MI-03.
