As soon as the Supreme Court handed down the 2010 Citizens United decision allowing a flood of unlimited special interest money in our elections, court fixer Leonard Leo and Justice Thomas' wife Ginni were out of the gate launching a dark-money front group.

It was funded with a lot of help from none other than Republican mega-donor Harlan Crow, the billionaire who has spent millions buying the Thomases expensive gifts and luxury trips.

That dark money group ended up advocating for cases before the Supreme Court.

If it feels like this is all a little difficult to follow, that’s because it is. Leo's billionaire court-capture operation was designed to fly under the radar.

But we’ve caught on, and we won’t allow it to continue. Dark money has given billionaires the ability to quietly capture the Supreme Court and warp our democracy. We can fix it by eradicating dark money from our politics once and for all. I’m leading the charge to get it done, but I need your support in this fight. I'm also leading the effort to clean up the mess at the Supreme Court by creating a binding ethics code for the justices, just like the one followed by federal judges on the lower courts. As political strategist James Carville recently remarked, "Why do federal district court judges sit under one set of rules, and the Supreme Court under another set of rules? That makes no sense."

I won't give up on this. The American people need to know they can get a fair shake before the highest court in the land, and that billionaires with special access don't have the upper hand.
