Here are some updates from today.
* The Mississippi Supreme Court struck down ([link removed]) a part of House Bill 1020 ([link removed]) for violating the state constitution. The provision would have allowed white state officials to appoint four unelected judges to serve in Hinds County, home to the state capital of Jackson, which is over 80% Black.
* The new proposed North Carolina budget would repeal ([link removed]) a section of state law that requires drafts, materials and communication related to redistricting to be available to the public.
Here’s what to expect coming up.
* Tomorrow there is a hearing ([link removed]) in the lawsuit challenging Georgia’s voter suppression law Senate Bill 202.
* A new episode of our podcast, Defending Democracy, drops tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. EDT! Marc and Paige speak with Rep. Greta Neubauer, the Assembly Minority Leader in Wisconsin, about all things Badger State.
