Dear John,
To be completely honest with you, I hate asking for money. It’s easily one of my least favorite parts of the job. And you might be thinking, it’s the off-year — what’s the point?
It’s a fair question! But the thing is, when you run for Congress, you have to run every two years, so campaigning never really stops. And remember all of the work it took to get here?
We faced an extremely competitive and contested primary. At many points, we were outraised, outspent, and down in the polls. Next year, we could face another competitive primary, and conservative interest groups could come out of the woodwork to spend against us. We cannot take a single thing for granted – and we cannot let our campaign operation lapse.
We have a long way to go until we reach our $30,000 quarterly fundraising goal, and with just over a week left under the end-of-quarter deadline, I’m counting on supporters like you to help close the gap. If you can swing it, will you chip in $15 or more so I can continue fighting for you?

Grassroots contributions from people like you are the reason why a candidate like me – a lesbian mom and the daughter of an immigrant – can get elected to Congress. I’m eternally grateful for your support, John.
