Today, I took action to safeguard California’s status as a reproductive freedom state and protect pregnant patients from falling prey to potentially dangerous and unproven procedures being advertised by so-called “crisis pregnancy centers.”
Heartbeat International (HBI), a national anti-abortion group, and RealOptions Obria (RealOptions), a chain of five crisis pregnancy centers in Northern California, have been taking advantage of vulnerable, pregnant patients by advertising a procedure called the “abortion pill reversal,” which has ZERO scientific backing and poses a threat to the health and safety of patients.
I filed a lawsuit against these two groups today to stop their misleading, predatory, and unlawful behavior, and I encourage Californians to seek truthful and timely reproductive health care services.
This isn’t the first time I’ve stood up for the right to safe and legal reproductive care, and it won’t be the last.
