Dear friend, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to share what I have been working on while I was in Milwaukee during the district work period. From lifting up Hunger Task Force’s important work to championing the job-creating investments in the Inflation Reduction Act, I’ve been busy, y’all! See more of what I have been up to below!
The North America's Building Trades Union Made a Stop in Milwaukee
President Biden and Democrats are working to strengthen our manufacturing workforce and secure family-supporting jobs. Thanks to investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPs Act, communities across America are seeing these opportunities. I joined the North American Building Trade Union (NABTU) tour for its stop in Milwaukee! During this tour, I visited the new Couture project, which will add a new Hop stop and bring new development to downtown. I also joined Governor Evers, Mayor Johnson, and local labor leaders to discuss the need to expand economic opportunities through apprenticeships and meet important childcare needs in the state.
Hunger Task Force Leading Vital WIC Outreach
Recently, Hunger Task Force received a grant to expand their WIC outreach efforts, helping more women and children enroll in this critical program. I was excited to join a roundtable to discuss the impact of these funds and see Hunger Task Force’s new headquarters.
Laborfest
I always have a great time at Laborfest! I am proud of Milwaukee’s union history and promise to continue championing the rights of working people.
New Opportunities for Growth at the Port of Milwaukee
The Port of Milwaukee is an important center for commerce, helping support more than 1,300 jobs and generating $88 million in income each year. I toured the Port of Milwaukee's new Agricultural Maritime Export Facility, which will be one of the first facilities in the Great Lakes region to transport bulk agricultural goods.
Celebrating Wisconsin at the State Fair ❤
I had such a great time at the Wisconsin’s State Fair! I enjoyed seeing so many Wisconsinites and celebrating what makes our state such a great place. Serving cream puffs was fun too 😊
POTUS Comes to Milwaukee!
August 16th marked the 1st anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act being signed into law. I joined President Biden, Governor Evers, Senator Baldwin, and Mayor Johnson, to share how this historic legislation is delivering for Wisconsin with good-paying clean energy jobs.
Supporting a Pipeline of STEM Workers in Our Schools
With federal funds, Milwaukee Public Schools is building STEM programs that help students cultivate their passions and learn important skills. I was so excited to welcome Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten to Milwaukee to visit Riverside University High School, where we saw this important work firsthand.
