House leaders are still trying to include H.R. 2 in the Continuing Resolution.

If you've been keeping up with the news or reading emails from NumbersUSA, you know that the U.S. House of Representatives is waging a very messy, very confusing fight to find a politically possible way to keep the government funded once the new budget year starts on Oct. 1.

NumbersUSA and our allies in Congress are TRYING VERY HARD to use this annual funding dance to force immigration policy reforms through Congress that would clean up the U.S.-Mexico border. As of this hour (mid-day Thursday), two competing groups of Republican House Members are pushing temporary government funding measures that would also include "fixes" for the border.

WINNING THIS BATTLE ISN'T GOING TO BE EASY!!!

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is currently backing an attempt to "attach" most of the great border bill it passed in May, H.R. 2, to a "continuing resolution." The problem is two-fold. First, GOP conservatives may want many other of their priorities to be included in the resolution. The resolution may already be too loaded down to clear the House. But if our allies succeed in getting H.R. 2 into a spending bill that passes the House, Senators will have to choose between keeping the government funded WITH border reforms or refusing the reforms and closing down the government.

Continuing resolutions are often not full-year spending bills. The previously proposed CR provides only 30 days of government funding, but the border security policies would be permanent! But it's a heavy lift to get from there to here.

We need Congressmen from both parties to move forward.

If your Congressmen are Democrats, we need you to tell them that you oppose any efforts to remove the border security language from the continuing resolution.

If your congressmen are Republicans, we need you to tell them that they need to support keeping HR 2 in the CR! A vote on spending without policy changes will continue to allow open borders!

Either way, your members of Congress need to know where you stand!

This Continuing Resolution is our greatest hope for passing a border-security bill! As our Border Security Coalition explains in a public letter to Congress,

"Enacting a CR (continuing resolution) without demanding change would result in the continuation of funding and policies put in place by the disastrous FY2023 omnibus, which has given the Biden Administration the ability to "manage" a never-ending, self-inflicted crisis by allowing them to entice, guide, process, transport, house, and provide social services to even more illegal aliens.

"Therefore, the undersigned coalition demands that the already passed, historic border security measure (H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act) be attached to any spending agreement to continue funding the federal government. It is your duty to use any means necessary to address the Biden Administration's open-borders agenda that not only undermines the rule of law, but threatens national sovereignty, economic security, and public safety daily."

Here's what the Continuing Resolution (with the addition of H.R. 2, the border bill) will do:

> Rein in the breathtaking and illegal abuse of parole that this administration has been using to unlawfully create its own immigration system;
> End catch-and-release;
> End the exploitation of unaccompanied children and family units;
> Deter visa overstays; and
> End asylum fraud and restore integrity to our asylum system.

NumbersUSA's members played a major role in the House passing H.R. 2, and pressuringHouse leadership to include it in a Continuing Resolution. Without our work together, Congress would have long ago legalized just about every illegal alien in America and waved in tens of millions more.

With our members' support, our allies will have the clout in Congress to make good policies. Without our members' support, this plan would go nowhere. You can help make this happen.
