In case you missed it.
John,
Fox News’ destructive influence over right-wing politics is undeniable. We saw it in 2020 when they pushed Donald Trump’s “big lie.” The result was the January 6th riot and a majority of Republican voters now believing Democrats rigged the 2020 election for Joe Biden.
In their latest gambit to pump up ratings and help Trump, Fox News led the charge for an impeachment inquiry without evidence of any wrongdoing by President Biden.
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy eventually caved to the pressure. The first impeachment hearing is now scheduled for September 28th, just two days before a possible government shutdown that, you guessed it, Fox News is cheerleading now as well…
So here’s the latest on Fox News’ latest grift – the looming government shutdown:
The House needs to pass 12 appropriation bills by the end of September to avoid a government shutdown. With just 10 days left before the deadline, Fox News hosts like Sean Hannity are telling far-right extremists in Congress (and the millions of voters they represent) to “take a stand” and shut down the government.
If they listen, hundreds of thousands could be furloughed, essential government services could be delayed, and our already fragile economy will take another severe blow.
So here’s the deal: from climate denialism to amplifying Trump’s “big lie,” Fox News is spreading dangerous misinformation and damaging American democracy. We can fight back and correct the record, but that takes serious resources. That’s where you come in.
At Courier, we’re committed to doing things differently. Our newsrooms in nine different states (with more to come) are staffed by journalists committed to telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. We’re not afraid to call out misinformation for what it is, and we’ll always provide the full context needed to understand a story.
Thank you for your support!
