Everybody you meet has a story. A unique background that molded their individuality. Now and then, if we are fortunate enough, a special story comes along that is powerful enough to unite us all. One of those stories is that of Little Amal, and so we encourage you to join ACCESS in the Little Amal: As Close to Home Welcome Walk.

Little Amal ([link removed]) is coming to Dearborn to tell her story. As a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child, Little Amal comes to life in a remarkable production that has been able to make incredible waves worldwide. During her special walk in Dearborn, she will suddenly recognize smells and sounds that feel tantalizingly close to home. She is overwhelmed with emotion as the nostalgia momentarily returns her to her Syrian roots.

This parade-style gathering gives us a chance to connect with passionate, like-minded individuals who share a calling to display the inclusive beauty of Dearborn while simultaneously strengthening the voice of displaced families everywhere. Thank you for your continuous support, and we look forward to sharing this inspiring experience together.

About ACCESS

ACCESS has been serving the community for more than 50 years. Founded by a group of dedicated volunteers in 1971 out of a storefront in Dearborn’s impoverished south end, ACCESS was created to help the influx of Arab immigrants adapt to life in the United States. Today, ACCESS is the most comprehensive Arab American community nonprofit in the United States. Providing more than 1 million services each year, ACCESS offers a wide range of social, economic, health and educational services to anyone that walks through its doors. ACCESS’ national reach includes the establishment of four national institutions: the Arab American National Museum (AANM); the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC); the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP); and the Center for Arab Narratives (CAN).
