Hi there,
The temperature outside is (mostly) comfortable, the sun is finally out, and our September round-up has so many ways you can interact with GGWash and with your neighbors this month. If there has ever been a time to get involved with GGWash, it's now!
Read on to learn about all our upcoming events and the other ways we have for you to engage with GGWash's mission:
Upcoming Events
GGWash's 2023 Fall Mixer [[link removed]]
Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 5:00 - 9:00 pm
Metrobar, 640 Rhode Island Ave NE
It's almost time for our third annual Fall Mixer at Metrobar! This casual, family-friendly, not-to-be-missed event brings together hundreds of transit fans and housing advocates from around the Washington region in support of GGWash's work. Tickets start at $30, and are available here [[link removed]] . (And if that isn't doable, request [[link removed]] one of our pay-it-forward tickets or sign up to volunteer).
Trains, games, and a citywide challenge: Join the 2023 District Hunt [[link removed]]
Friday, September 29 - Monday, October 9
Within the Washington, DC, boundary
It's a food and housing puzzle hunt and you're invited to join! Local nonprofit Game Genius is back with their annual citywide puzzle hunt, and this year's theme is Food and Housing.
Form your team, solve puzzles, and learn about local organizations and changemakers in the process! The games begin when the first clue is dropped on Friday, September 29 and can be played until the evening of Monday, October 9. Make sure to stop by the happy hour that GGWash is co-hosting [[link removed]] at City State Brewing on Sunday, October 8.
You can either compete against the clock for a grand prize that is awarded based on speed and accuracy or you can solve the puzzle at your own pace. Learn more and buy tickets on the District Hunt website [[link removed]] .

Join our Breakfast Links team! [[link removed]]
Our Breakfast Links Curators kickstart each day at GGWash, working with our editors to select six to 10 engaging stories that provide a snapshot of recent local urbanist news. We've filled all of our regular Breakfast Links slots, and now we're looking for alternates! If you want to help us out but can't commit to a regular weekly shift, this is your moment.
Do we have the right address for you? [[link removed]]
We periodically ask you to confirm your address so that we can reach out to you about specific housing developments, transportation projects, volunteer opportunities, electoral work, or any other number of other things that are relevant because you live close to where they're happening. Check what we've got on file here [[link removed]] and update it if it's not correct.
Write for us [[link removed]]
GGWash is able to keep publishing great content thanks to the community members who write for us. We're looking for pitches from volunteer contributors and also have a limited number of paid freelance opportunities available. Have a specific idea for a story? You can submit your pitch through our pitch form [[link removed]] . If you would like to talk more with us about what it means to write for GGWash, please email us at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
All Hands on Deck [[link removed]]
As the climate warms, urgent action is needed in order to combat the impacts that the climate crisis has on people and the planet. If you are looking to get involved locally, Southwest Neighborhood Assembly and friends are hosting a climate change and disaster preparedness community engagement fair on Saturday, October 14 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. There will be several presentations, workshops, and tabling organizations (including GGWash!) there to educate people on what is being done, and what still needs to be done, as we prepare for and against climate change-related disasters. Learn more about the details of the fair here [[link removed]] .
