Dear John,
The Finance Minister’s budget speech is just a few weeks away - where we find out if the federal government will keep its promise and fund climate and nature.
Last week, thousands of you signed the petition asking the government to put its money where its promises are - and properly invest enough to ensure its climate action and nature protection commitments become a reality.
Now it’s time to ramp it up a notch by directly sending an email to Finance Minister Morneau, Environment Minister Wilkinson and your local member of parliament.
As you read this email, government officials are making decisions about where to spend our money in this year’s budget. We have a historic opportunity to drive the message home to our elected officials: we voted for action, and we expect you to deliver.
There is no time to waste. We are facing a climate emergency and a biodiversity crisis. Canadians are already experiencing floods, fires, ecological disruption and as our planet continues to warm, our collective well-being is deeply under threat.
We won’t be able to stop this crisis without federal investments in climate action, nature conservation and biodiversity protection.
Let’s take advantage of this window of opportunity to chart a course to a safe future for all. Send a letter to your representative and demand the action that got them elected.
Sincerely,
Tim Gray
Executive Director
