Dear John,
A couple of months ago we came extremely close to defaulting on our nation’s debt for the first time in American history. Now, extremists are at it again—attacking women and families and threatening to shut the government down . In their harsh demands, conservatives want to make drastic cuts to critical programs like food assistance, housing, child care, and education for families across the United States. We can’t let that happen!
Tell Congress: Fund the Government Without Cuts [[link removed]]
We can’t let extremists play games at the cost of families.

A conservative faction in the House of Representatives is trying to go back on the compromise agreed to during the debt ceiling negotiations. This group does not speak for the single mother who relies on child care funding, the young family who needs WIC to access healthy meals, the family who has waited years for accessible and affordable housing, and the millions more who will be impacted if extremists get their way. Shutting down the government would put further strain on everyday people, furloughing jobs, denying federal services, and stalling the day-to-day operations of our country.
We need every single member of Congress to put people before politics and keep our government running. Congress listens to the voices of their constituents. We need you to contact your members of Congress and tell them to fund the government NOW without cutting programs for women and families! [[link removed]]
In solidarity,
