In the midst of this week’s alarming messages about stalled progress on the SDGs, I’ve been reflecting on the bold approaches that are necessary to catalyze real impact for global development challenges.

In a new Devex op-ed, I share key lessons from Evidence Action's first decade. Our programs reached over half a billion people, we generated $23 billion in lifetime productivity gains from deworming, and saved the lives of 15,000 young children. 

We’ve unlocked this impact by doubling down on the evidence, embracing innovation, and maximizing value for money. Together with a relentless focus on results, these principles are game-changers for improving lives on a massive scale.

There's much more work to do, but I'm proud of what we've achieved by challenging the status quo. Our approach holds important lessons for the global development community to make greater strides by joining us in doing development differently.

Halfway to 2030, the SDGs are markedly off-track. Yet we all know what a come-from-behind win looks like – when commitment, and yes even desperation, sparks new strategies. There’s nothing more satisfying than when the underdog wins.
