Team,
As someone who operated a family business with 230 workers, I can tell you that shutting your doors and cutting off pay for your employees is no way to run a business – and it's certainly no way to run the federal government.
But MAGA Republicans in the House are planning to do just that by shutting down the federal government at the end of September.
A government shutdown shouldn't be political theater; it has real and lasting consequences for millions of hard-working Americans, including many Granite Staters.
When Republicans pulled a shutdown stunt at the start of my first term in office, over 800,000 federal workers across the country – including 2,400 Granite Staters – were furloughed or worked without pay.
I heard from many constituents who were directly hurt by political gamesmanship from Republicans in Congress. These are our friends and neighbors, and their financial well-being and morale would be severely impacted.
We can't afford another reckless government shutdown, team.
That's why I'm calling on House Republicans to put the needs of the American people over partisan politics by keeping our government open. Will you join me by signing our petition today? →
Thank you,
Chris
